Jump Station – Nike
Encouraging peak performance through larger-than-life payoffs, Potion created the full-body reactive “Jump Station” for a special Nike exhibit at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Visitors see only the words “Step and Jump” inscribed on the floor as they approach a sixteen foot tall projected figure. The projection reacts to the visitor’s presence by warming up, waiting for the visitor’s first move. A small jump is rewarded with only a small hop by the figure. In tune with Nike’s message, real effort is rewarded with dynamic motion capture sequences, from small hops to slam dunks, depending on the visitor’s effort.
The interactive, created in collaboration with the design firm 2×4, provides visitors with a unique and active introduction to Nike’s history and vision. Designed and prototyped in New York, the exhibit ran for the duration of the Olympics without one support call.
