Don’t let them be just memories
WWF save the Oceans
Memories is set in a post apocalyptic time, when the abuse humanity has put the environment through shows it’s worse consequences. It’s a school project that challenged us to create something for wwf conveying their conservational message and at the same time be a call to action. It was important to show the current state of the environment, focusing on the oceans, from fauna and flora to the consequences to the landscape. The main topics were the decrease in marine populations, the huge strain caused by overfishing and the consequences for the artic ice.
Wwf has some infographics and detailed information about the impact humanity has had on the oceans and living species showing very worrying data. Their website was of course our main source of information. We had to be very concise, since the animation was to be only 30 seconds long.
We wanted to bring people to the dialog – it was important that people felt responsible for what is happening, to feel that it is in their hands to change the course of nature’s future. Because of this we chose to present the animation through a very common day-to-day situation: a visit to a museum. Our character are normal does and janes going through what is now the earth’s reality. The option for an apocalyptic setting comes from wanting to illustrate and focus on the devastating consequences.
We hope through this animation to spread the urgent message that WWF has been defending all these years. Thanks for watching!
